Cording in Our World
Depending on the country and culture between 30-50% of individuals are corded. Despite how common they are, this does not diminish how harmful they can be, with many individuals experiencing a dramatic improvement in their quality of life after a Cord Removal Treatment.
Additionally, individuals can have one cord or several cords and each cord can vary in strength.
The Effects of a Cord
‘Cord Attachments’, ‘Energy Cords’, or just ‘Cords’ are negative energetic attachments that connect to your energy from another person often leading to negative influences on your thoughts, emotions, and choices.
The effects of a cord can depend on multiple factors:
- The location of the attachment
- Which meridians it connects to (whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual)
- The intensity of the cord
- The depth of its connection into your energy field
- Who it is from and why they are cording you
Because of these different factors no two cords are alike and can have different varying effects on an individual.
Most cords lead to increased negative emotions such as anger, anxiety, depression, and/or frustration. They can also potentially pull you towards tendencies of self-abuse, substance abuse, social abuse, and, at its most extreme, suicide. Additionally, they often create a strong pull towards addictions and addictive behaviors which can range from drugs, alcohol, or overconsumption of sugar as well as toxic sexuality, toxic people, or self-sabotaging habits.
Since a cord is an attachment from another individual, the effects of a cord are created by the agenda of that other individual. This means if you are corded you will experience the influence of the person cording you. For example, if they are craving addictive energies from you, you may notice your addictions worsening as they will feed on that addictive energy as well as motivate you towards addictive behaviors to create that energy. Overall, this often causes people to act out of character for what is normally healthy for them.
Also, because of this, cords can often motivate you to make choices that are not in your best interest such as pushing away people that want to love and support you or driving you towards people that may be toxic to you and don’t have your best interest at heart. This is largely because the energy of support from others may not fit in with the agenda of the individual cording you.
When someone cords another person it is because they want something from that person. Whether it is to control them, feed on their energy, or to satiate an addiction. It can be helpful to understand what that person wants so that you can better understand how the cord attachment started and, just as important, to prevent it from reattaching. Although it is not always necessary to know who it is from, it often can help in understanding how the cording stared.
The vast majority of people who either have a cord or are cording another person are completely unaware of it. They generally only recognize the effects of the cord, which for the “Cordee,” are often more of a negative shift in their thinking and feelings whereas for the “Corder,” is a feeling of satiating an addiction or feeling a sense of control over another person.
For individuals being corded, in many ways it is akin to a person talking into your ear, telling you what to do and telling you how to feel and even potentially affecting your physical or spiritual health.
The actual process of cording is a byproduct of how energy works and how artificial lines of energy can be directed from one person to another.
It is important to note that a cord is a two-way street, with energy flowing in both directions:
- From them into you – Influencing you
- From you into them – Draining you
That is why after a Cord Removal Treatment clients often report feeling more energy afterward.
Conversely, although less common, some clients may report feeling initially depleted since they depended on the energy given to them by the other person. These are generally from individuals who have had cords for very long periods of time. For these clients, it is important to know that this is a temporary state before their native energy begins to replenish the area or areas the cord was removed from.
The effects of a cord are as if two radio stations are being played at the same time. The native radio station, meaning your native frequency, and the other radio station, meaning the foreign frequency, will often create conflicting frequencies. This results in the one being corded often feeling like their energy is unstable or static. It would be akin to putting the wrong type of fuel into a car – the car will probably still drive but without its native fuel it’s going to create issues. An individual’s native energy is always and only appropriate to them, but when put into another individual will always create conflicting frequencies.
Healthy Individuals Cannot Be Corded
Individuals with completely healthy physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual immune systems cannot be corded. It would be analogous to an individual with a cut on their skin would be susceptible to infection while a person with perfectly healthy skin, with no cuts or bruises, would not be susceptible simply because there is no point of entry past the skin. In the same way, a healthy energetic field will naturally repel foreign energies.
Anatomy of a Cord
A cord can be seen as an anatomical structure with two parts similar to a tree:
- The Main Trunk – Referred to as the ‘Head of the Cord’ is the entry point into the skin
- The Root System – Referred to sometimes as ‘Tentacles’ are the anchors that burrow into the meridian system and hold the head in place
Those who can see and/or feel energy will oftentimes see a tube-like structure that connects into a part of a person’s physical body. At the point where it enters the body, it will branch out in several directions holding that main tube structure in place. The entry point of this tube is the “Cord Head” and the different directions it goes into the body are “The Roots”. Cords remain in place at a specific location because the head is anchored by the root system.
These “Roots” are the part of the cord which connects into the meridian system of the person’s body. Meridians are the body’s natural flowing channels of chi/energy. If you would like to learn more about meridians you can research them in the philosophy of acupuncture (although acupuncture does not include the meridian systems of bodies 2-12 but only the physical). Cords can have anywhere from one or two roots upwards to a half dozen or more.
By injecting themselves into the meridians the roots hi-jack how the meridians operate. That is why there is a tendency towards negative feelings, emotions, and/or thoughts because the roots override the native frequency of the meridians they hi-jack. The same meridians would normally express healthy energies however when the cord roots anchor into them, they will express a toxic frequency not native to that person’s energy.
The Effects of a Cord
The effects of a cord are largely related to which body or bodies they are connected into. Bodies here refer to the physical body as well as the other energetic bodies: the mental, emotional, spiritual, etheric, astral, and/or lower soul (there are 5 additional higher bodies however those cannot be corded). For example if a cord is strongly anchored into the emotional body there will be a stronger tendency towards negative emotions or emotional stagnation. If it is anchored into the mental body it will likely affect thoughts and thought processes. Within the physical, it will create physical issues. Within the astral body astral issues. And so on.
Cords can also be anchored into more than one body. The site of the cord is often tied to which body or bodies the cord is connected into and what the function of that part of that body is. Since the different bodies are so interwoven with each other affecting one body will often create issues within all of the bodies to varying degrees. Therefore a cord attached largely to one body will still, more often than not, create issues in all of the other bodies.
The Cord Removal Process
A cord does not simply connect into the surface of the skin but connects deeply into the body or bodies. Therefore it cannot simply be cut off because the roots hold it in place. Instead, the roots must first be retracted and the head pulled out (more akin to ‘digging’ than ‘cutting’).
During a Cord Removal process, the head of the cord is the main area of focus of the treatment. Each Root is retracted towards the head and then pulled out. After this the root sites are sanitized and then refilled with an energy similar to how an actual tree root would be removed – first identifying where the roots are located, then digging them out, clearing the pathways, and refilling the dirt.
If a person is not educated in how cords work, attempting to remove one can often cause the cord to hide in another part of the body. Additionally, they can go deeper giving the appearance that it has been removed while actually becoming stronger in another part of the body. What’s worse, the person attempting to remove the cord can even have the cord attached onto them after attempting to remove it from someone else.
Types of Cords
There are several different types of cords that refer to the strength of the cord’s attachment.
- Major Cords – These are cords that have strongly attached into the person and have multiple roots into their body.
- Minor Cords – These are cords that are attached into the person but are not as strong a major cord and have fewer roots.
- Attachments – These are when cords are not fully developed yet but have penetrated past the outer and inner field without being rooted into the person’s energy. These will often develop into minor or major cords if left unchecked.
- Outer Energy Field Attachments – Because there are layers of protective energy within an individual’s aura an attachment can begin to loosely anchor into the outer field attempting to anchor into the inner field and then onto the skin. These can fall off the outer field naturally or they can further penetrate into the field and into the skin. They often act as opportunistic parasites waiting to penetrate the inner field further if the energetic immune system becomes weaker.
- Inner Energy Field Attachment – These are attachments that have penetrated the outer field and are closer to the surface of the skin. They are in the stage before being anchored into the person’s energy but have not fully penetrated below the skin and begun laying roots.
Side Note: Attachments have less strength in terms of influence, regardless they should still be removed as they can create a degree of influence and potentially develop further into a major or minor cord.
How Cords Work
A cord is a connection between an internal part of your energy field and an attaching energy from another person. As described previously this is often a person that wants control or influence over you or wants to feed on your energy.
A cord can only attach to a person if two things occur:
- A person’s exterior electromagnetic field has holes in it.
- There is a point of stagnation it can anchor into within the inner field.
The outer field is an expression of energy moving upwards through the torso out of the crown and then circling on the outside of the person returning to the base of the torso. The average field is the distance of the tip of an individuals outstretched hands. The strength of the field is directly effected by the health of the different organs and glands as well as the health of the mental and emotion bodies.
When there is lack of health within any of the bodies – physical, mental, emotion or spiritual – it can effect the exterior field which is what allow holes in the outer energy. This creates difficulty in the outers field’s immune system not allowing it to fully repel foreign energy.
If this outer perimeter is breached by external energies then a cord can approach the surface of the skin and then past that surface into the body anchoring into the individual’s internal energy system.
Conversely cords can be released if the person identifies and heals the point of stagnation that it is anchored into. Tools that can assist with this are meditation, talk therapy and tai yi (or any means which allows healing of core issues). However it is often much more difficult to work on healing while corded so it is advised to remove the cord first through tai yi then to focus on healing the issue. Attempting to heal the issue while corded can be done but is much more of an uphill journey as the cord will often work against the person to remain attached.
What Allows a Cord to Connect: The Point of Connection
For a cord to exist it must first have an entry point into the person’s energy. Once it is past the exterior field it needs a place it can anchor into. This only occurs with matching frequencies. Therefore, the area of stagnation in your body must have matching energy to the person cording you for it to attach. Matching energy means if you have a stagnant energy that creates issues, such as anger or fear or feelings of insecurity (or any other possible energies of stagnation), then the cord can use that energy as a connection point.
This is similar to how a key fits into a lock – the ridges and valleys of the key fit in the pins of a lock (or put another way how a like frequency connects to a like frequency) and the key can then turn the lock – gaining access to the person’s energy.
Now this energy of connection could be an energy of anger, addiction, or a toxic belief such as “I’m not good enough” (to name a few examples). Therefore the person doing the cording, and you, connect through this same energy.
To put this another way this is how a person who doesn’t want to be responsible can be corded by someone who wants control. Or how a person with an addiction to alcohol can cord onto an addict. Or an angry person can be corded by a person who feels power from anger. These are only a short list of possible reasons for a cord to attach – the list can go on and on in terms of reasons.
Ultimately, cords need an area where they can anchor onto you. Without an available attachment sight, there is no way for the cord to connect to you. This goes back to the analogy that a cut on your skin can allow an entry point for germs into your body whereas healthy skin does not.
Preventing a Cord: Healing the Point of Connection
Because cords attach through like energy if you heal the issue that opened you up to the cord there will no longer be a location for the cord to attach onto.
As an example let’s say a cord connects to someone’s energy of addiction. Let’s also say that energy largely builds up in their mid-back on the right side on a stagnant area within the emotional body (this is a completely made-up location). When the person heals their addictive energy they release that stagnant area and the cord can no longer attach to it as the energy in that area becomes strong, healthy flowing energy once again naturally repelling foreign energies.
Healthy energy naturally creates a strong energetic field and strong energetic fields preserve the person’s own energy and repel the energy of others. This is what healing creates: a strong unique expression of energy created by the individual.
Having Multiple Cords
If an individual has more than one cord that means they have more than one area of stagnation and may need to heal multiple issues. Healing one area of stagnation does not necessarily heal the other areas and so there can be multiple separate issues. Although it is not uncommon for those issues to be related.
During a cord removal process, the practitioner will remove cords in order of strongest to weakest. When working with issues related to cording it can be beneficial to work on the strongest issue first.
The One Doing the Cording
The individuals who are cording others can either be physical or non-physical meaning alive or dead. They can be cording others consciously or unconsciously meaning they are aware or not aware that they are influencing others. And those cording may not even have a full awareness of the individual they are cording but experience the effects of it.
Ultimately the individual who is doing the cording wants something. It can range from wanting to obtain a high from drugs, feeding off others’ anger, a desire for control, or to feed off others’ pain such as driving people to self-abuse or anger or preventing them from changing and healing. Again this is a short list out of many possibilities.
It is important that when working on healing a cord, or healing in general, you DO NOT judge the issue or the person. Judgment is simply the process of pushing energy down. Often ones who experience judgment need to begin the process of forgiveness: Forgiving the other person, forgiving the event as its own energy, and forgiving themself meaning to understand and take responsibility for allowing a cord.
If you attempt to heal an issue with a cord while judging the issue or the person cording you, you simply make the issue worse. Allow for love and compassion on whatever level you can and it will accelerate the healing process. Additionally, send love to those who are cording or attempting to cord you as it often repels them – as cording is never created through the energy of love. That being said that does not mean do not have healthy boundaries or discernment, that is still very important. Discernment is not judging, it means to be aware without condemning others.
Individuals who have a cord will feel the influence of those who are cording them. Although they may not always recognize where it is coming from. They will experience thoughts, feelings, or motivations towards what the person cording them is wanting. This may show up as a desire for drugs or a desire for control, which may actually feel like depression or many other possible desires. For some it may only be a physical pain in the body. Again these are just a few examples. Whatever the influence, the individual will feel a drive away from their own best interest and will often make choices that are negative for them.
Cords can influence an individual’s mind, emotions, physical health, sexual desires, or desires in their life. They often occur as an individual being pulled towards negativity – whether that is emotional negativity, negative thoughts, or negative physical issues or activities.
Cords in Families
Often because family members carry similar belief systems and energy it is not uncommon for family members to cord other family members. Whether the family member is alive or not. Although it is not always the case, a controlling family member is not an uncommon source.
Keeping a Cord Off
Like what was said before – a cord cannot exist unless there is a like energy that matches what the cord is seeking. This means that healing the issue that attracted it, to begin with, can make the person immune to being corded in the same way again. Therefore it is important to explore what attracted it.
It is important to make new choices away from old patterns that the cord was creating after removing a cord. Take time to celebrate and do activities that support your heart and begin to focus more on what your own desires, emotions, and thoughts are.
WARNING: Misinformation About Cord Removals
Sometimes the terminology “cutting a cord” is used to describe a cord removal, which is understandable since the cord connection is essentially being cut off, however, the process would be more akin to ‘cord digging’ or ‘cord uprooting’.
If you find an individual who is literally cutting a cord above or around the body be aware they do not know what they are doing! This would be akin to passing your hand through someone blowing smoke. The smoke will simply keep going after your hand has passed. The roots of the cord must be removed for it to be completely removed otherwise it will simply reattach.
If you find an individual who is invoking archangel Michael or a flaming sword to remove the cord simply know they do not know what they are doing!
If anyone states that cords are positive, natural, or healthy and naturally occur in romantic relationships or family relationships just know this is completely inaccurate and they do not know what they are doing!
Now it is true that positive cords can and do exist however they are incredibly rare and are not created in romantic relationships. Additionally, most individuals who can see and feel energy can rarely even identify Positive Cords because they often completely blend in with the person’s energy.
It is important to understand cords have an actual structure and form to them and they are not abstract concepts. For ones who can feel the energy, they can be felt. For ones who can see energy, their form can be seen.
Having a person believe they have had a cord removed when they have not can be incredibly harmful since they may believe the issue has gone away when in reality it is still there affecting them.
Always make sure to seek out a practitioner who is knowledgeable about how cords and cord removals work. Tai Yi practitioners taught from the Life Energy Flow Tai Yi school of healing are well versed and taught extensively about the topic and many aspects of misinformation around cords. You may consider outraching one of these students first when seeking to remove a cord.
